Caster Semenya joins JVW FC

With major sporting events suspension forcing a lockdown due to Covid-19, the continent’s women stars are trying to kill time

South Africa star Caster Semenya headlined the African women’s stars, including compatriot Janine Van Wyk and Nigeria‘s Asisat Oshoala, in joining Cristiano Ronaldo’s Living Room Cup.

Major competitions and sporting events globally have been postponed as the world battles the coronavirus pandemic, which has affected more than 1.4 million people and killed more than 81, 000 so far.

Just as the men’s football stars observed self-isolation to combat the spread of the coronavirus, the women are also taking part in several challenges as alternatives to stay fit. 

Guingamp‘s Desire Oparanozie, Madrid CFF’s Rita Chikwelu was also involved in the viral challenge which was initiated by Ronaldo in partnership with kit manufacturing outfit Nike.
